This lock with snares and secrets was created around 1860 by Emile Ottia, aka Emile le Tourangeau, compagnon locksmith du Devoir. The keyhole is hidden behind the coat of arms of the city of Tours (three towers) and can only be reached by activating a secret device. When loaded, any attempt to break in fires a small cannon and shackles will emprison the burglar’s hand.
Serrure à pièges et à secrets réalisée vers 1860 par Emile Ottia dit Emile le Tourangeau, compagnon serrurier du Devoir. Cette serrure comporte une ouverture masquée par une porte aux armes de la Ville de Tours (trois tours) qui ne s’ouvre qu’en actionnant un dispositif secret. En position armée, toute tentative pour forcer la serrure déclenche un petit canon et un piège à menottes qui enserre la main du cambrioleur.
